1. MEMBERSHIP FEES are as follows:

  $10.00 for one year


a) One additional family member living at the same address may register under the same membership. Only one card is issued per membership, although a second card for such family member can be purchased for an additional $2.00.
b) Membership fee is refundable only during the first 30 day period from the date of enrollment, and the refund is limited to half of what was paid.
c) Replacement fee for any lost card is half of what was paid originally.
d) Membership is not transferable.
e) You will be requested to show your membership card when checking out at the register. The membership card is valid at any Marukai Store.
f) If you pay your membership/renewal fees at the checkout counter, please present your receipt to the membership desk so we can update your record. It is your responsibility to show that you have paid your membership/renewal fees.

2. PAYMENT for purchases can be made with cash, checks, debit/ATM cards and credit cards.

a) Personal checks must be written in the exact amount, issued on the member’s checking account, pre-printed with the member’s name and address and presented by the member.They may require picture identification and approval by a supervisor or manager. In the event that a member has a check returned by the bank, the member must make good the fact amount of the check upon demand, plus a $35 charge and other expenses incurred. If any legal action is brought by Marukai to collect payment on a check, the member will be liable for reasonable attorneys' fees and costs of collection.
b) Marukai does not accept manufacturers' discount coupons, other retail establishment discount coupons and food stamps.

3. DAMAGES, RETURNS, and EXCHANGES.

a) You will be required to pay 50% of the price of any items unsealed or damaged by you or your guests and children.
b) Returns and Exchanges must be made within 7 days of the date of purchase and only if accompanied by the receipt. Merchandise must be unused and in the original package. Food, sanitary, health and cosmetic items, clothing, bed linens and utensils must be in sealed original package. No Returns and Exchanges for perishable items, liquor or tobacco. For special items, restocking charges may be deducted. Marukai will not be responsible for any costs, including transportation costs, incurred by in connection with the return or the exchange.
c) Refunds for credit card purchases will be credited to your account by reversing the charges.
d) Refunds for check purchases will be given only after your check has cleared the bank (normally 10 days).
e) Returns and Exchanges for items purchased at Marukai stores in Hawaii must be made at those stores.

4. MARUKAI GIFT CERTIFICATES are available at Customer Service and can be used to purchase any item at the following Marukai stores: Marukai Gardena, Marukai West Covina, Marukai Costa Mesa, Marukai Little Tokyo, Marukai Pacific Market, Marukai Torrance, Marukai Cupertino, Marukai 98 cent plus, Marukai San Diego Plaza, West La, and Marukai Hawaii. Marukai Gift Certificates cannot be redeemed for cash, unless the cash value is less than $10.

5. Children Parents are responsible for their children and must not leave them unattended. Marukai provides special shopping carts with seat belts for small children. Never allow children to stand in the cart. Marukai assumes no liability for improper use of carts or any resulting accidents.

6. RESTRICTIONS:

No drinking or eating allowed in the store except in designated areas. No pets, except permitted service dogs, are allowed in the store and in the food court area. No open alcoholic beverages at any part of the store. If you are going to walk your pet in the parking area, please pick up their litter. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times in the store. No roller skates, roller blades, or skate boards on Marukai premises. Liquor and tobacco sales cannot be made to minors. Marukai reserves the right to inspect any container, backpack, briefcase, bag, etc. upon entering or leaving the store.
